Learn how to ski with disabilities

Ski school for people with a handicap

Almost anyone with disabilities can participate in snowsports in the Engadin. The Silvaplana Top Snowsports School, together with the association «Ski for All», offer ski or snowboard lessons for people with cognitive or physical disabilities. Our adaptive ski school instructors are specifically trained and have years of experience in teaching snowsports.

  • Stand up skiing: for anyone with physical disabilities in the lower and/or upper limbs or with a cognitive disability but able to stand on their own
  • Sit skiing: for anyone with a spinal cord injury, illness or amputation of lower limbs or a cognitive disability requiring learning how to ski in a seated position.

Snowsports equipment for people with disabilities

Mono ski, dual ski, stabilizers and more

The mono ski and the dual ski are just two examples of special aids, enabling people with cognitive or physical impairments to enjoy snowsports. We offer rental equipment.

  • Visually impaired: need regular skis, boots and poles. A guide skis ahead and gives instructions per radio (with built-in amplifier and two-way audio).
  • Stand up skiing: need one or two skis, boot(s), poles or stabilizers.
  • Sit skiing: need a mono ski or a dual ski as well as stabilizers. A piloted dual ski exists for accompanied skiing for those with strong impairments, complete immobility and/or a severe handicap.
